How can we help you?
Dry Vacuum pumping systems have been gaining prominence in various process industries as feasible solutions to address the clean vacuum requirement. The dry technology offers many advantages over the traditional wet vacuum systems such as limiting the environmental footprint and fast evacuation with zero contamination. Further, the problems associated with handling of oil or water are eliminated which make it a good alternative for pharmaceutical and chemical industries. In addition to cleanliness they also offer safe operation for pumping corrosive vapours.
As part of this endeavour, Everest Vacuum offers hybrid type variable pitch dry screw vacuum pumps (Super-Screw ESPH Series) with variants ranging from 60 to 1500 m³/hr for various process applications like Pharmaceutical, Chemical, Food processing, Degassing etc. The hybrid type variable pitch screw pump consists of two screws (rotors), which rotate in opposite directions inside a chamber. The gas is trapped between the rotors and the chamber. The gas moves forward through the screws towards the discharge.
The clearances (between the screws & between screws and chamber) are of vital importance in this dry technology. Close clearances are maintained for better vacuum production. The material selection of the rotor also plays a very vital role. The material should have a low coefficient of thermal expansion to prevent the touching of high speed rotors with each other and with casing, thereby avoiding the pump- seizure.
Coating of the body, side plate and rotor of the pump with specialized Ni or Polyether ether ketone (PEEK) coating results in better hardness, abrasive and corrosion resistance thereby improving the stability and lifetime of the super screw dry vacuum pump while handling process load (vapours/gases). It is observed that PEEK coating results in 10 times better abrasion resistance compared to PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) and PFA (perfluoroalkoxy) coatings.
The superscrew skid mounted system (shown in figure) has been developed for advanced mobility at the job site. The customized system is equipped with essential accessories like Isolation and Pneumatic valve, Vacuum Transmitter, Solvent tank, Post Condenser (connected to discharge of the pump), Receiver Tank, inlet and outlet ports for cooling water, purge line for N2 gas and inlet gas for smooth and efficient operation
The skid mounted vacuum packages can deliver an ultimate vacuum of 0.015 torr (ESPH 150) to 0.75 torr (ESPH 1500).
Important points to be noted while coupling this dry screw vacuum system to the customer’s process equipment are:
During the pumping of process gas/vapours the temperature of the process fluid plays an important role in avoiding the dew point condensation because of the heavy compression happening in the dry screw vacuum pump. If there is condensation inside the pump, the coating may get damaged due to particulate presence or seizure due to overheating. It is to be noted that recoating is a tedious affair and hence extreme care needs to be ensured while handling the pump.
